Compare height and carrying weight together

Gorilla’s aluminum designs offer a 20 in platform at 6.4 lb or a 30 in platform at 8 lb. Compact steel includes a 17 in platform at 8 lb. Equal carrying weight can therefore accompany quite different standing heights; neither height tells you how high you can reach.

Across the selected stools, platform heights span 8.5 to 30 in and carrying weights span 3 to 18 lb. Think about the standing height your task calls for and the weight you will move between rooms, then use the maker’s stance and usage guidance.

A duty rating must suit the task and surface

Gorilla’s maker load ratings span 225 to 325 lb. The aluminum designs have a 250 lb rating; Pro-Grade Steel has a 300 lb rating. The latter changes construction and load allowance, so compare the carrying weight too rather than treating a higher rating as a universal upgrade.

Read the duty rating, surface conditions and warnings for the exact stool. Load and platform dimensions cannot approve every task or surface, and a project tray does not change the standing position permitted by the instructions. Choose a model you can place and use as directed, rather than translating platform height into personal reach.

Gorilla Three-Step Aluminum has a 30 in platform at 8 lb with a 250 lb rating. Three-Step Pro-Grade Steel has 29 in at 16.3 lb with a 300 lb rating. Carrying weight and load compete. Aluminum suits you if carrying weight matters; Pro-Grade offers the higher load rating. Platform height is not your reach height.

Why are there several heights from one design family?

Two- and three-step constructions differ in height and weight. Twelve models span eight families; colors do not add designs.
