Replacement pulls start with screw-hole centers
Hickory Hardware's Skylight pulls include center spacing described as 3 inches and as 3-3/4 inches. Spacing, dimensions and material descriptions come from pull makers, without grip-comfort or fastener-strength assessments. The Chrome Piper also uses 3-3/4-inch spacing. Measure between hole centers before looking at overall length; replacing a pull by its outer span can leave the screws in the wrong places.
The finish is a separate choice from spacing and construction. A Stainless Steel finish on a Skylight pull covers a zinc body, while the Champagne Bronze Bar Pull uses steel.
Projection determines how far the handle stands proud
The Champagne Bronze Crest projects 1 inch, and the Champagne Bronze Bar Pull projects 1.25 inches. The longer Champagne Bronze Skylight measures 9.25 inches overall and also projects 1.25 inches. A long pull need not stand farther from the drawer front.
After matching the holes, compare hand clearance and surrounding doors, then determine screw length for the cabinet thickness.
Before you buy
Should I use overall length to replace an existing pull?
Start from the distance between screw-hole centers; four of these pulls use 5-1/16 in (128 mm). Overall length adds the ends past the holes, so the two 6-5/16 in (160 mm) pulls run 6 13/16 in (Crest) and 8.63 in (Bar Pull) long. The one with your hole spacing. These 10 Hickory Hardware pulls span five spacings, 3 in to 8-13/16 in. At 3-3/4 in spacing, the Piper projects 1 3/8 in and runs 4 3/4 in; the Skylight, 1 1/8 in and 4 3/16 in.
What does projection measure?
How far the pull stands off the cabinet face, down to 1 in on Crest pull. It matters where an open door or a nearby surface could hit the pull.
Does a size match settle the installation?
Not on its own. Screw length and your door or drawer thickness still have to work together, and nine of the 10 are zinc while Bar Pull is steel.
