Closed length varies widely. The 16 ft L-2321-16 closes to 96.5 in; 60 ft AE1660 closes to 292.25 in.
Multi-section AE3220 and AE3224 store 7/8 in shorter than AE2220 and AE2224. L-2321-16 has a 200 lb Type III rating.

The closed ladder must clear the whole storage route
Carrying balance and wall-rack loading have no assessments behind these maker dimensions for closed ladders. Louisville Ladder's closed dimensions vary in height, width and depth. Closed height spans 96.5 to 292.25 in, and depth spans 5.75 to 9 in. Compare the space at its tightest point, including the route into storage. Louisville's aluminum extension ladders share a material label, but that does not make their folded footprints interchangeable.
A storage fit says nothing about safe working reach
Closed widths range from 17.25 to 22.25 in across all 12 ladders. That extra width matters alongside the depth when you are choosing a rack or recess. Extended length, working reach and duty rating need their own checks. A storage match does not certify safe use; follow the ladder's setup, securing and electrical-clearance instructions.
Before you buy
Is closed height the same as how high the ladder reaches?
It's the stored length only, with the sections retracted: the 20 ft AE2220 closes to 124 7/8 in and the 40 ft AE2240 to 244 7/8 in. The feet value in each title is the maker's size label; this comparison does not give extended length or safe working height. For working height and safe setup, go by the instructions you get with the model. The AE3220 and AE3224 store 7/8 in shorter and about 1.3 in narrower than the AE2220 and AE2224; both multi-section models are 18 1/8 in wide.
How deep a wall rack do I need?
Nine of the 12 are 6 5/8 in deep closed. The slimmest is the L-2321-16 at 5.75 in, the AE1220HD comes in at 6.5 in and the AE1660 needs 9 in. Those are the ladders' own depths, so any hooks or brackets you use add to them.
Does the Type rating change how much space a ladder takes?
Hardly. Louisville pairs each Type with a load in its titles: Type I at 250 lb (AE1660, AE3220, AE3224), Type IA at 300 lb on the seven AE22 ladders and Type IAA at 375 lb on the AE1220HD. The three ladders at AE2220’s nominal length close within 1.5 in of each other while their ratings run across all three Type ratings above, so the rating seems to have little to do with stored size.
