How the comparison works

Your choices are compared with each model’s product details. A missing or conflicting value stays unknown and cannot satisfy a choice you select. The starting order helps you browse; it does not rate real-world performance.

Source dates appear with each link below. A source date does not confirm today's price or stock.

Dimming changes which electrical loads you can consider

Kasa’s Outdoor Smart Dimmer has a 4 A figure and dimming control; its Outdoor Smart Plug configurations have 15 A figures and on/off control. If you want adjustable lighting, start with the control mode, then read the dimmer’s limits for your actual bulbs or drivers.

Lutron’s 15 A wording refers to lighting loads, while Leviton describes 15 A general use. A common numeral does not make those approvals interchangeable. Motors, resistive loads, lighting and LED drivers can each have different limits; maker instructions are the basis here, with no connected appliances operated.

Weather protection still needs the right installation

Kasa and Wyze use IP64; Tapo and Leviton use IP65; Lutron uses IP66. These enclosure codes are exact filter categories, so selecting a code does not include every differently coded plug. GE Cync’s current and enclosure code remain unknown rather than being inferred from an outdoor label.

Treat enclosure protection, electrical load and control behavior as separate decisions. Read receptacle placement and installation guidance for the model you choose. A current match cannot approve an appliance, and an enclosure code cannot approve your installation. A product page can lead to specifications or buying options; verify the named offer and availability before ordering.

Before you buy

Does a general current rating cover every appliance?

A rating can apply to general-use, resistive or lighting loads. Read the exact limit for your actual device and follow the maker’s installation instructions.

Does a different IP code mean a better plug?

Tapo P400M names IP65 and Lutron Caseta names IP66. The codes are exact categories here, not quality or installation-safety ratings. GE Cync’s current and code remain unknown. Kasa KP405 names 4 A for dimming; KP400 names 15 A for on/off control. Both carry IP64. The control mode changes the limit. KP405 suits consideration when dimming matters. Current alone is not load approval: lighting, motors and LED drivers can have separate limits.
